Cue — Privacy Policy

Cue exists to hold the things you can't afford to forget. That only works if you can trust it, so this policy is short, plain, and true.

What we collect

Your email address, your name if you choose to give one, and the reminders you set down — their text, notes, dates, and settings. That's it. That's the product.

What we do with it

We store it securely and bring it back to you when it matters. Your reminders are used to run the app for you and for nothing else.

What we never do

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not run ads. We do not use third-party analytics that track you. Your reminders are yours.

Where it lives

Your data is stored with industry-standard encryption on managed cloud infrastructure (MongoDB Atlas and Render) in the United States. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes — we cannot read them.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, Cue uses them to remind you of the things you asked it to hold. You can turn them off any time in your device settings, and the app keeps working without them.

Voice capture

If you speak a reminder instead of typing it, your device turns the speech into text. Where your phone handles it on its own, nothing leaves the device. Where it can't, the audio is sent to Apple or Google — whoever makes your phone — purely to transcribe it, the same way your keyboard's dictation button works. Cue never stores the recording. We keep the words, because the words are the reminder. Not the audio.

Sending a cue to someone else

You can hand a cue to another person. When you do, they get their own copy — two copies, one link — and each of you can mark it done, say something about it, or let it go. Nothing is shared until you choose to share it, and Cue never sends a cue on your behalf.

To send one we need the address you're sending it to. If you send by email, that address goes to us so we can deliver the invite; we use it for that cue and to connect the two of you, and for nothing else. If you send by text, your phone opens its own message and the number never reaches us at all.

An invite link lasts 30 days. If nobody takes it in that time, we delete the invite and the address it was sent to — we have no reason to keep an address for a cue that never arrived anywhere. Your own reminder stays; it simply isn't shared with anyone.

If you pick someone from your contacts, Cue never reads your address book. Your phone shows you its own picker, you choose one person, and only that one person's details come back to the app. If your phone can't show that picker, Cue says so and asks you to type an address instead — it has no other way of getting at your contacts.

Once a cue is shared, the other person gets the cue itself — its words, any note on it, its date, how often it repeats, and the stake and life area you gave it — along with what you say about it in its thread and the name on your account. If you keep private context in a note, that note travels with the cue. They cannot see anything else you've set down. The first cue from someone new arrives as a request you can accept or decline, you can block anyone at any time from Settings or from the thread, and you can report a cue or the person who sent it the same way. Blocking is never announced to them.

If your trial ends

Your data is frozen, never deleted. Everything stays visible and waiting for you. We don't hold your information hostage, ever.

Deleting your data

Open Settings in Cue and choose Delete account. Your account and everything in it are erased immediately — including cues people sent you, everything you wrote in their threads, and who you're connected to. Copies already on someone else's phone stay theirs; your name comes off them and your messages read as removed. Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
